This Sat., Sept. 10 marks the return of the Symphonic Stroll to Josephine Sculpture Park, located at 3355 Lawrenceburg Rd., Frankfort. Only in its second year, the event is an immersive music experience + fun for the whole family.

Today, we’re sharing a sneak peek of what you can expect, along with other ways you can experience the musical magic of the Lexington Philharmonic.

If you ask us, art + music are the perfect date night duo.

The Symphonic Stroll is “pure delight,” says Mollie Harris, Director of Marketing & Development with the Lexington Philharmonic. “There are so many hidden surprises. The music is paired with these sculptures adding a different layer to the pieces of art.”

As you stroll through the park, you’ll stumble upon a solo or musical duo at five different sculptures. Pause and soak in the sounds for a ~15-minute performance. Follow the map to finish your adventure at the beautiful tobacco barn where you’ll be greeted by a string quartet.

New this year are two interactive experiences. One is a sound installation with speakers tucked around the pond. Guests can manipulate the music around the water with a touchpad. The other is a family-friendly, music-making activity — playing on flower pots — led by Philharmonic staff members.

Extra deets
  • There will be staggered entry at 4 p.m. + 5 p.m. so you can explore at your own pace.

The Lexington Philharmonic 2022-23 Season: Renewal, runs from September through May, led by new Music Director Mélisse Brunet. “Music creates an incredibly emotional space. It is so powerful and amazing + we want everyone to know that they are welcome, and to feel welcome at our events,” said Mollie.

Experience the power of the Philharmonic for yourself.
