A new Peruvian-style chicken restaurant called Chic Char has opened up at 1474 Anniston Dr., Ste. B1, tucked back in the Bryan Station neighborhood behind Kenawood Park. The Tahl Sound Concert Series is returning to the Southland neighborhood this Sun., Sept. 25 for its final concert of the 2022 season. Lexington-based indie rock band Lylak will be headlining and celebrating the release of their new album “Inconvenience Truce.” 🎸
Number
$70 million. That’s how much money the state of Kentucky received to add new electric vehicle charging stations across the Commonwealth. The goal is to eventually have charging stations within 50 miles of each other across Kentucky’s major corridors. For the first time in history, each of the four blue-blood basketball schools are 3-0 to start their football seasons — Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky. UK’s next football game is against Northern Illinois at home on Sat., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. 🏈 (Sports Illustrated)
Lexingtonians
Two former Wildcats will be inducted into the Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame — Jack Givens + James Lee. Each of these men were instrumental to the integration of the UK basketball program during the 1970s. Jack graduated from Bryan Station High School and James graduated from Henry Clay High School. Kentucky State Parks across the Commonwealth are gearing up for fall. From ghost tours to Halloween-themed miniature golf, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Take a hike to soak in the vibrant colors of Kentucky’s fall foliage + then stick around for a fun spooky activity after. That’s a double feature presentation we can definitely get behind.

Editor’s pick: Speaking of state parks, I am heading out to Breaks Interstate Park this weekend for a family camping trip.
This park is a bit further — a 3.5-hour drive from Lexington — but so worth it because of its incredible views. Some refer to this park as the “Grand Canyon of the South.” I’ll include pictures next week to show you what I saw.
