The busiest streets in Lexington, Kentucky

Doesn’t it seem that your street is always the busiest street in the city? Well, we’re here to settle the debate.

Using data provided by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s website, we calculated which spokes of the wagon wheel see the most cars on an annual basis.

Definition

Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT): This is the sum of the total traffic for the entire year divided by 365 days.

Lexington’s busiest roads

  1. Richmond Road/Athens Boonesboro Road, from Interstate 75 to Ashland Avenue | AADT: 180,340
  2. Nicholasville Road, from Man O’ War Boulevard to Waller Avenue/Cooper Drive | AADT: 171, 669
  3. Tates Creek Road, from Man O’ War Boulevard to Euclid Avenue | AADT: 153,234
  4. Newtown Pike, from Interstate 64/75 to Leestown Road | AADT: 140,170
  5. Leestown Road, from Highway 1977 to Newtown Pike | AADT: 131,718
  6. Versailles Road, from Man O’ War to Oliver Lewis Way | AADT: 112,853
  7. North Broadway/Paris Pike, from the Fayette County line to Loudon Avenue | AADT: 106,352
  8. Harrodsburg Road, from Man O’ War Boulevard to Red Mile Road | AADT: 101,443
  9. Winchester Road, from Interstate 75 to Midland Avenue | AADT: 67,415
Listen, we get it. Traffic can sometimes feel a bit heavy.

But at least you don’t have to travel along one of the top 25 busiest highways in the US to get home. A portion of the I-5 in Southern California in has an AADT of 504,000.

Local restaurant DV8 Kitchen received some help from UK students in decorating the exterior of its East End location, 594 E. Third St., Ste. 100.

This new mural art features three different sets of colorful angel wingsone for adults, one for kids, and even one for pets.

We suggest stopping in this weekend to snag one of its famous cinnamon rolls, taking a few pictures with this bright + beautiful piece of new public artwork, and taking a walk on the newly completed Town Branch Trail.

Pro tip: During the holiday season, DV8 Kitchens releases a special eggnog-iced cinnamon roll that we just can’t get enough of.
THE WRAP

Today’s issue was written by Aaron.

Editor’s pick: I have to tell you about another new local beer release I can’t wait to try — West Sixth’s new “Rye Barrel Porter.”

This unique barrel-aged beer is a collaboration between West Sixth Brewery + Bulleit Bourbon.

The beer was aged in Bulleit’s rye whiskey barrels and features notes of caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, and toffee.

Take a seat when sipping on this one because the ABV clocks in at 9%.
