Mayor Linda Gorton has appointed the first two civilians to the police disciplinary review board — Allison Connelly and Darlene Barber. The two were chosen out of 74 applicants + will each serve a two-year term. The board is tasked with considering complaints made against officers and making recommendations to the police chief. 🚔 (LEX18)

This Sunday is Juneteenth, which marks the end of institutional slavery in the US. It is a federal holiday, so expect closures. Celebrate at the Juneteenth Festival on Sun., June 19 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden, 577 East Third St. See all the events here.
