Head over to Joseph-Beth Booksellers (161 Lexington Green Cir.) on Sat., Oct. 29 from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for the free festival.

Gluten Free Miracles, Lexington’s only gluten-free bakery, announced last week it will be closing. This Sat., Oct. 29 is the last day to shop in-store for cookies, cupcakes, scones + more. Owner Denise Walsh said they will still be taking custom and holiday orders.
Community
Last week, it was announced that Lexington will have its ownofficially-licensed Monopoly game. The board will feature local businesses, organizations, and landmarks — think Triangle Park, Blue Grass Airport, and Keeneland. Hasbro licensee, Top Trumps and Winning Moves, wants to hear from you. The Transylvania men’s basketball team will kick off their season with a home exhibition game on Tues., Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Pioneers will host Northern Kentucky University in a benefit matchup with proceeds supporting Eastern Kentucky flood relief initiatives. Also, they will be accepting donations of gently-used winter coats. 🏀 (1780)

$162,450. That’s how much money the UK men’s basketball team raised for Gov. Andy Beshear’s Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief fund. The money is a result of ticket revenue from Saturday’s Blue-White Game, which was played in front of a crowd of 7,029 fans in Pikeville. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

It’s Diwali, the “Festival of Lights” in Hindu tradition. Celebrated on the darkest day of the lunar month, candles, lanterns + fireworks are lit to reflect the triumph of light over darkness. It’s a five-day festival, but outside of India usually only the third day is observed. Bharatiya Temple and Cultural Center held its grand celebration on Saturday.

We’ve seen a lot of excellent equine happenings in Lexington — a book-reading horse, a blue horse + more— but this is a new one for us. Introducing, Horse Kicks — custom-made horse sneakers.
The concept is a collaboration from VisitLex, Cornett, and local designer Marcus Floyd of Inifinite Kustomz, which repurposes branded sneakers.
