Hey, yâall. Aaron here. đ
Since Iâve been writing this newsletter, youâve probably learned a few things about me by now â I love basketball, the Red River Gorge, and hanging with my family.
But did you know I have a massive sweet tooth?
Since itâs Halloween week, I figured it was time to sample some of Lexingtonâs top-selling, locally-made candies.
But I couldnât go on this journey alone. So I brought my 7-year-old son alongto sample, review, and rank candies made in the Bluegrass.
After all, who is a better candy expert than a 7-year-old? | Photo by LEXtoday

The verdict

Chocolate-covered caramels | This was the candy that received the highest combined score + I think is a sure-fire bet to satiate any sweet tooth.

UK Menâs Basketball Media Day 2022-2023
Coach Cal is looking to seniors Jacob Toppin + Oscar Tshiebwe to be leaders for his young guys. | Photos by LEXtoday
We attended UKâs annual media day event. Hereâs what we learned:
1. Thereâs a local Wildcat on the team.
Brennan Canada is a 6-ft 5-in senior forward from Mt. Sterling, KY.
Quote: âHeâs the kind of kid that can play four different positions,â said Coach Cal.
Need to know: This is Brennanâs last season. Look for him to make his mark down the stretch.
Quote: "[Miners] they go down together and they come up together. They hold each other accountable. Thatâs written on my teamâs wall now,â said Coach Cal.
3. Shooting + defense
Look for CJ Frederick + Antonio Reeves to bring more perimeter shooting this year, something â some say â was missing from last yearâs team.
Quote: âLegally, I have to play five players â thatâs it. These young guys, if they donât play defense, they donât play,â said Coach Cal.
THE WRAP
Todayâs issue was written by Aaron.
Editorâs pick: Taste-testing local candies and playing free pinball at The Burl might end up being the highlight of my Halloween season.
But I am also excited about our homemade costumes this year. Weâre going to be a trio of wacky scientists â a chemist, a botanist, and a zoologist.
