Halloween happenings in Lexington

From dance parties to the Thriller Parade + plenty of pumpkin opportunities, there’s no shortage of freaky Halloween fun in Lexington this month.

The main event, trick-or-treating, will take place on Halloween — Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. — but here are six more seasonal events offering fun + frights for everyone. Pro tip: Don’t forget about our list of movies + kid-specific happenings.

Spooky Silent Disco
Burl Brew will turn into a dance floor this Friday, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. Be sure to come dressed in your Halloween best because the costume contest winner will receive a free silent disco party for up to 25 people. Tickets are $10.

Hocus Pocus Cookie Decorating Class
Make your own sweet seasonal treats at Harkness Edwards Vineyard this Saturday, Oct. 19 at 12 p.m. One glass of wine will be provided while you make (and take home) your own themed royal icing cookies. Spots are $57.

Thriller and Halloween Parade
Zombies will be taking over downtown this Sunday, Oct. 20 at this annual event that’s been listed as a “Top 10 Halloween Destination” by USA Today. The variety show kicks off 5 p.m. followed by the parades at 6:30 p.m.

Jack-o-Lantern Trail
From Thursday, Oct. 24-Monday, Oct. 28, the walking path at McConnell Springs Park will be aglow with carved pumpkin creations. Visits are $6 per person, while children 12 and under are free.

Midnight Music Fair
Al’s Bar is inviting you to eat, drink, and enjoy some haunting tunes at its Halloween music + art fair. The party will be rocking from 6 p.m. to midnight and tickets are $15.

Music at the Mansion
Griffin Gate Marriott Golf Resort & Spa will host a free evening of haunting tunes on Friday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. BYO comfy set-up and browse the on-site vendors + food trucks.

PumpkinMania
Head to Old Morrison to see hundreds of glowing pumpkins from Sunday, Oct. 27 through Thursday, Oct. 31. Stay tuned for a future newsletter where we’ll share more about new events happening at Transy that week.

Dog Costume Contest
Get your pup all dressed up and head out to West Sixth Farm for its Halloween Costume Contest on Sunday, Oct. 27, 1-4 p.m. West Sixth Cantina will be serving food, and $1 from every beer sold will support the Franklin County Humane Society. Costume contest entries are $10.

Spirit Strolls: Death and Tragedy at Pleasant Hill
Spend Halloween strolling through Shaker Village while listening to spine-tingling tales about the darker side of the historic site. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. experience are $15.
