Get ready to fill up your reusable shopping bags with fruits and veggies, Lexingtonians, because it’s farmers market season in the Bluegrass.
In the spirit of supporting all things local, we’ve rounded up six farmers marketsin the Lexington area where you’ll find fresh food, live music, and local vendors. Bonus: Check out this interactive map we made for you.
Special events: The holiday winter months bring festive fun around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Keep an eye out for the Cold Brew Festival in the summertime.

Features: Located just on the edge of downtown, this market is the perfect place for a midday break. It offers the goodies you can find on the weekend, but be sure to get there before close in case they sell out.

After 40 years in business, E. Stephen Hein Florist announced it will be closing this summer. Stop by to say farewell, wish Stephen a happy retirement, and shop with discounts on goods like wreaths, vases, and pots. The shop’s last day will be Friday, June 30.

James Beard-nominated chef Sam Fore announced the address for her first brick-and-mortar spot. Tuk Tuk Snack Shop is expected to open at the end of this summer in The Venue at 124 Malabu Dr., Ste. 110. Be sure to follow along on the restaurant’s IG page for more updates.

Development
A new $13 million apartment complex is coming to 340 Legion Dr. off South Broadway. The building will be three stories with 105 units, a fitness center, outdoor amenities + more. Prior to demolition, the current property will be used as training grounds for the Lexington Fire Department now through Friday, April 7. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Calling all caffeine lovers. The Richmond Road O’Charley’s has been demolished to make room for Arkansas-based coffee chain 7Brew, marking its second location in town. Keep an eye out for the first drive-thru spot to open later this year at 4265 Harrodsburg Rd. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Mark your calendars for the third annual Hat Tea on Saturday, April 15 at Fasig-Tipton. This Bluegrass high tea will feature a seasonal, four-course luncheon with soup, as well as savory and sweet bites. You’ll also be treated to a conversation with lifestyle blogger Suzanne Smith and Lexington’s own Polly Singer.

According to a study by traffic data + analytics company INRIX, Lexingtonians spend the most time in traffic compared to other drivers in the state. The report also ranked Lexington No. 63 out of 280 U.S. cities regarding traffic delays. (WKYT)

YMCA introduces Y on the Move

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the YMCA mini bus.
The YMCA of Central Kentucky has launched a new program called Y on the Move, through which staff and volunteers will be able to provide food and services in the community via the new mini bus.
Services will include:
Educational enrichment
Wellness classes
Physical wellbeing activities
Games for children
Free wi-fi access
Y on the Move will debut next week at the Partners For Youth‘s spring break Adopt a Park events. The afternoons will feature games, music, STEAM activities, and healthy snacks.
