How will Lexington look in 20 years? The Urban County Council will soon vote on Lexington’s 2045 Comprehensive Plan, the most important guide to our city’s growth and how it will evolve over the next two decades.
The community’s input is a key part of this process. Here’s how to help:
Step 1: Read the revised draft of the Goals and Objectives.
Temporary road closures are scheduled around town today and tomorrow, April 14. From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on both days, Harrodsurg Road will see lane and shoulder closures between milepoints 2 and 4, while Exit 2 off New Circle Road will see closures on north and southbound ramps.
Festival
Music festival season means more than just the music. Crafted Social is back at this year’s Railbird Festival hosting its Mercantile Tent. Here, vendors and craftspeople from all over the country come together to showcase their artistry. Applications to be featured will open this Friday, April 14.
History
Historical organizations across the state have received $44,000+ through the 2022 Kentucky Local History Trust Fund. In Fayette County, the Blue Grass Trust will spend $2,500 towards boosting its Virtual deTours program, while the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation will use the remaining $2,500 towards its Ashland Slave Dwelling Project. Plan Ahead
Head to the Kentucky Children’s Garden on Saturday, May 20 in celebration of Addie’s Day. Along with offering free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the garden will host crafts, STEAM activities, and more until 1 p.m. Addie’s Day commemorates Adelaide Kennedy McReynolds, who died in 2011.

State
Following the damage that March’s major windstorms caused across the state, President Joe Biden has officially approved a disaster declaration. By doing so, state + local governments, as well as nonprofits, can gain access to funding that will help with future repairs. See if your county is eligible here. (LEX18)
