Recently, we asked you to come up with a unique ice cream flavor that describes Lexington and utilizes one to three locally sourced ingredients. After reading all of your responses, it’s safe to say that our mouths are watering. Here were two of our favorites:
A bourbon and mint flavored ice cream topped with a caramel marshmallow sauce (like Modjeskas). Called “Bourbon Royale.” — Polly S.
Vanilla ice cream mixed with Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Old Kentucky Chocolates’ Thoroughbreds (caramel, pecans and chocolate). Called “Southern Delight.” — Sharon D.

Arkansas-based fast-casual chicken chain, Slim Chickens, opened its first Lexington location yesterday at 525 Waller Ave. The menu features sandwiches, tenders + wings with 17 different house-made sauces. A second location will be coming to the old O’Charley’s at 2897 Richmond Rd. soon. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

There are some new additions at the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden thanks to LexArts and artists LaVon Van Williams Jr. + Gary Bibbs. The pair created three iron pieces depicting Murphy’s personal life and legacy in horse racing. See them yourself at the corner of Midland Avenue and East Third Street. (WKYT)
Sports
Lexington Sporting Club has partnered with Griffin Gate Marriott Golf Resort & Spa to be the team’s official hotel partner. Through the deal, Griffin’s Kitchen Food Truck will be set up at Toyota Stadium for five of the remaining home matches this season. Get your tickets.
Closing
UK’s Good Samaritan Hospital will close its doors at 310 S. Limestone in 2029. Operations, services, and employees will move to the new facilities as part of the UK Chandler Hospital expansion. We’ll keep you posted as more details arise. (LEX18)
