Loosened belt? Wet wipes ready? Appetite stimulated? Sounds like you’re ready for CRAVE Food + Music Festival. The beloved Smiley Pete Publishing event is returning to Masterson Station Park on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27, and we’ve got all the delectable details.

Know before you go

Before pulling into the Bluegrass Fairgrounds ravenous, be sure to go ahead and download the CRAVE app on your phone. Here, you can create an account, browse the event map, as well as buy + reload CRAVE Bucks via a unique QR code (more on that later).

Admission into the festival can either be purchased ahead of time or at the gate entrance for $10 per day or $15 for the whole weekend.

Once in, that’s when you can purchase CRAVE Bucks, which is a digital currency that can be used at any of the booths. Here are some facts:
  • Every dollar is equivalent to one CRAVE Buck
  • Most menu items will range between $3-$5
  • According to the website, an average adult spends $30-$40 + a family of four spends $100.
However, vendors and bars can accept cash or credit payments — CRAVE bucks are only required at food booths.

Got it? Now let’s get to the good stuff.

Activities + music

Along with bites galore, there’s fun for the whole family at CRAVE. Take a dance break during your culinary excursion by catching live music featuring everything from jazz to Latin.

News Notes
Civic
  • As heat indexes reach the danger category, Waste Management will move up collections times this week. Today, Aug. 21 and tomorrow, Aug. 22, collections will begin an hour earlier (around 4:30 a.m.), so residents are encouraged to set their cans out the night before.
Community
  • Ready to have your voice heard? Imagine Lexington wants your input on its 2045 Comprehensive Plan. On Wednesday, Aug. 30, head to the Lexington Senior Center at 195 Life Ln. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. to ask questions + offer suggestions.
Job
  • Although the 2023-24 Fayette County Public School year has already begun, there are still nearly 100 job openings on its website. These range from administrative to teaching. See if there’s a good fit for you. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Real Estate
  • Looking for Class A office space in one of Lexington’s up-and-coming entertainment districts? The Commons, located just off of Main Street on North Forbes Road, recently renovated an office building that is available for lease on part of its 40-acre mix-use development.
Asked
  • We know it’s hot today, but the mumblings of pumpkin spice can only mean one thing: football is almost back. So we want to know, which local chef should we ask to whip up a solid tailgate spread? While you’re at it, let us know your favorite tailgate recipes. We might just be planning something fun.
Finance
  • Refinance rates are skyrocketing. But home equity rates remain relatively low — which means that now is a great time to borrow against your home. Calculate your payment.*

A top commode-ity

Announcing the best bathroom in Lexington, according to our readers

Lexington was snubbed for this year’s America’s Best Restroom Award. That stinks — but we can roll with it.

We took matters into our own hands and asked our readers which Lexington bathroom they thought should sit on the porcelain throne. It came down to the top three:
  • Clerestory at Greyline Station
  • The Apiary
  • Lost Palm
And the best bathroom in Lexington is...

Clerestory at Greyline — and we get why. With it’s tropical-themed art and biophilic design, this bathroom certainly is a royal flush and instantly transports you to warmer climates.

Congratulations, Clerestory. Your bathroom really is the crème de la commode.
