👻 I remember Halloween
Have you heard about the nightmare on Versailles Road?
Hemlock House invites you to its house warming, of sorts. | Photo courtesy of Hemlock House
If you’re driving down Versailles Road and hear the distant sounds of werewolf howls — run. Not away, but to Hamilton Park to see the Hemlock House.
Last year, Rock House Brewing and DH Fabs Studio manager Danny Haddad decided to build a cemetery. Creepy enough, right? But it was listening to “Frankenstep” by local artist Matt Duncan that the sounds of thunder and mad scientist cackles inspired him to “up the ante” this year.
You’ll likely feel a spine-tingling sensation upon approaching Hemlock House, where cobwebs drape the home, gravestones sprinkle the yard, and an eerie, tempo-based light show bleeds through windows.
If you’re ready to for the grooviest, ghouliest night, take note:
The light show runs on a loop every night until Halloween from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Spectators are welcome to park and walk to see the house up close — just be mindful of neighbors.
I’m looking for the scariest drinks and treats around Lexington. So far, I’ve got my eye on the Hellraiser Burger from Bear & the Butcher, featuring pepperjack cheese, pimento, and topped with a jalapeno popper. Let us know if you spot any other fun themed goodies.
