Small Business Saturday is coming up on Nov. 25. What started as an American Express campaign in 2010 to inspire consumers to shop locally has become an annual holiday that’s celebrated nationally.
We asked you to tell us which local small businesses you love shopping with + any deals you’re excited for, and (as usual) you didn’t disappoint. Plus, we included some of the local deals and shops we love.
Editors’ picks
Aayat’s pick | Creatures of Whim | Choose from unique crystals, a variety of incense, or handmade bath + body supplies and get 30% off everything at this downtown metaphysical store.
Molly’s pick | Peplum Boutique | This Chevy Chase clothing + accessories boutique is celebrating with 25% off all full-priced items.
You all love shopping small. Check out where else you said you’ll be shopping on Nov. 25.
Local favorites
Babaloo Jewelry | This Indigenous-owned brand is based in Lexington and creates artisan jewelry perfect for the most stylish folks on your list.
Wixology | Local candles make great gifts, especially when they’re sustainably sourced. We love the bourbon-based scents.
M+H Beads | Gift casual, small-batch jewelry from this locally-based brand. Plus, a portion of proceeds goes to a local medical clinic providing free services — so the gift just keeps on giving.
Thanksgiving Day Buffet | Thursday, Nov. 23 | 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. | Lexington Griffin Gate Resort & Spa, 1800 Newtown Pike, Lexington | $55 | Take the family out for a Thanksgiving buffet featuring a harvest salad bar, turkey, sweet potato casserole, and mashed potatoes — reservations are encouraged.

Studio Players presents: “A Visit from Scarface” | Friday, Nov. 24-Sunday, Nov. 26 | Times vary | Carriage House Theatre, 154 W. Bell Ct., Lexington | $18.53-$27.78 | See this hilarious play that tells the story of gangsters, prohibition, and 1930s Hollywood.
Saturday, Nov. 25
Winterfest Kick Off | Saturday, Nov. 25 | 11 a.m. | Greyline Station, 101 W. Loudon Ave., Lexington | Free | Celebrate Small Business Saturday by shopping local vendors, meeting Santa, then hitting the rink for indoor ice skating.

Pictures with Santa | Sunday, Nov. 26 | 1-4 p.m. | Bank of Lexington, 6409 Polo Club Ln., Lexington | Free | Find out if the kids were really naughty or nice by meeting + taking pictures with Santa — goodie bags and refreshments will be served.

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all. I’m grateful for our readers that make Lexington such a welcoming community to live in. I hope no matter what you’re doing today, you’re surrounded by loved ones. And if for some reason you couldn’t be, you are seen and loved.
