Lexingtonians experiencing homelessness now have a place to find respite during the cold months. The Hope Center Temporary Winter Shelter, 381 W. Loudon Ave., is officially open on the North Lexington YMCA campus, with space for 160 individuals. It will be available through the end of March.
Development
The Douglass Park pool will be transformed into Lexington’s fifth aquatic center thanks to funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act. The new facility will open in 2025 and feature a rebuilt pool and Kentucky’s first “wet bubble.” During construction, neighborhood residents will be provided with free pool passes for 2024.
