We know what you’re probably thinking, “Why are we talking about summer camp when we haven’t even gotten to spring break yet?”
Well, it’s never too early to get a head start on summer plans for the kiddos. In fact, some spots are already on a waitlist. So check out these 10 local summer camps + programs for the younger Lexingtonians in the crowd.
🎨 Art
ARTPlay, 309 N. Ashland Ave., Ste. #190
A colorful summer awaits with the play-based approach at ARTplay. Its themed camps will explore fashion design, creative clay, and artist showcase. Sessions vary and start ~$250.
Living Arts & Science Center, 362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.
LASC offers a wide variety of camps (even for high schoolers) all summer long. With subjects like music + dance, cooking, ceramics, and wildlife biology, your children are sure to keep the learning going outside the traditional classroom. Sessions vary and start at ~$260.
Evergreen Nature School, Various locations around Lexington
Kiddos ages 3-12 will love being outside learning about feathered friends, survival skills, plant identification + more in these nature-themed exploration camps. Eight sessions available and the prices start at $195.
Bar Y Adventure Camp, 5757 Versailles Rd.
Outdoor adventures await at this week-long day camp for kids ages 8-12. Campers will build self-confidence + leadership skills through activities such as challenge courses, fort building, and more. Ten sessions available and the cost starts at $238.50.
🎽 Athletics
UK Football Camp, Joe Craft Football Training Facility, 295 Alumni Dr.
Camps will take place throughout June with options for players of all ages — including position-specific, fundamentals, and day camps. Bonus: Campers can get a picture with Head Coach Mark Stoops. Walk-up registration will be available + prices start at $50.

City council gave first approval to use interest from federal coronavirus relief funding to support those experiencing housing troubles. Goodwill Industries will receive $400,000 to provide rental assistance to families of students are experiencing homelessness. Legal Aid of the Bluegrass will also receive $200,000. The Lexington Fire Department is now in the top .01% of fire departments in the US thanks to its latest agency accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Now with three top accreditations, Mayor Linda Gorton said Lexington has the “best of the best fire and emergency services.”
Sports
The UK men’s basketball team won against conference rival Vanderbilt 93-77. The Wildcats are now 22-8 for the season and will hit the road to face Tennessee on Saturday, March 9.
Drink
