To be an effective citizen, you have to be a knowledgeable one.
You might have asked yourself these questions before: How does our local government work? Where can I have a say? Who can I go to if I have a problem?
Well, class is in session, Lexingtonians. We’re teaching LEX GOV 101, where we break down different aspects of our local government to become engaged citizens that create healthier (and more effective)communities.
How does it work?
In short, the Mayor and City Councilmembers develop policies and enact laws.

We’ve talked about the potential for a commuter rail system before, now the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants your feedback. Organizers for the 2024 Statewide Rail Plan are hosting two virtual public meetings to share plans and gather opinions — register for Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. (WEKU)

Get your tickets for the Lexington Unsung Hero Awards on Saturday, Jan. 25, 7-10 p.m. at the Carrick House. Hosted by CivicLex, the event will honor nine community members nominated by their peers who embody the spirit of service without seeking recognition.
