The start of Ramadan depends on the sighting of the new moon. Mark your calendar for tomorrow, March 1, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for an Interfaith Dialogue hosted by the Christian Muslim Dialogue of Lexington. This event is open to the public and will be held at Hunter Presbyterian Church.
Development
As workers begin clearing trees and brush, the first phase of construction on the new Henry Clay High School building is officially underway. Prepping the site will conclude in March, and phase two will begin in June with the installation of a new water line. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Transylvania University crowned Kentucky poet Leatha Kendrick the Judy Gaines Young Book Award winner. A symbol of the exceptional writing of Appalachians, previous honorees with ties to Lexington include Frank X Walker and Crystal Wilkinson.

Cresco Labs of Ohio takes you behind-the-scenes of its marijuana processing facility, showing every step of the process from planting, to harvesting, to product packaging. With plans + licenses to operate in Kentucky, this could be a peek into the future for Lexington’s medical cannabis patients. (LEX18)

After being reacquired by A Cup of Common Wealth, Chocolate Holler is slowly starting to feel like its old self as it reintroduces old favorites like the Sleeping Bear and the Cold Brew Shaker to the menu. There’s one sweet snack we’re especially excited for — No Bake Cookies are officially back on the menu.
Feel Good
For Lexingtonians Cheryl and Bobby Taylor, a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket is a double blessing. In addition to funding a family vacation, the couple is grateful for the chance to support education in Kentucky. “Four of our six kids received scholarships through the lottery’s education programs,” said Cheryl. Engage Lexington is an online platform which serves as a digital hub where residents can participate in surveys, share ideas, and provide feedback on topics ranging from urban development + transportation, to public safety and environmental sustainability. By offering accessible and interactive tools, Engage Lexington works to ensure that diverse voices are heard, in the hopes of making more inclusive + informed decision-making possible.
