Bread and Roses Bakery, 446 E. High St. | Bakery
Kneading more sourdough in your life? This offshoot of Kentucky Native Cafe from the owners of Michler’s Florist offers fresh breads and pastries. It opened to a warm welcome from the community and began with limited opening hours.

Athenian Grill, 3801 Mall Rd. | Greek
Already winning Lexington over, Athenian Grill’s third location serves up its classic gyros and gyro bowls. Want to branch out? Try the “CrossFit special,” a bowl with two proteins and two sides, which can include Greek sausage, Santorini chicken, and more.

Jaggers, 2350 Norman Ln. | American, comfort
Lexington’s first Jaggers burger chain location is open. Operated by Texas Roadhouse, patrons can expect juicy burgers, crispy tenders, milkshakes, and all the sides you know and love.

Everybody do the John Wall. Veteran NBA point guard and Kentucky basketball legend John Wall has officially announced his retirement. No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, Wall became a five-time All-Star and All-NBA honoree, exciting fans with his dynamic play and leadership on the court.

Civic

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council unanimously voted to ban the large-scale use of farmland for solar power purposes. The council also proposed new local solar rules, which will go to the Public Service Commission. There will be a final council vote on Thursday, Sept. 11. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Wild Eggs opened its third Lexington location today at 4228 Saron Drive, serving up the popular breakfast spot’s signature dishes fresh off the griddle. (LEX18)
