Lexington-based New Era Whiskey & Spirits is expanding with a new distillery and a members-only bourbon club downtown. The micro distillery and club will open in the historic building at 333 E. Parents of children with disabilities in Kentucky can apply for grants from the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation to help cover medical costs not paid by insurance. The funds can be used for therapy, prescriptions, medical devices, or major surgeries. Since 2005, the foundation has awarded over 40,000 grants totaling $80 million. (Kentucky Health News)

Lexington crews are auditing residential recycling and yard waste to help residents sort correctly. Workers in bright-orange vests may visit neighborhoods to provide guidance. University of Kentucky students are training service dogs through UK’s branch of 4 Paws for Ability, socializing them and teaching obedience on campus to prepare them for life-changing roles with children and veterans.
