If you’re eager to hear tales of spirits that linger, The Ghost Walk Lexington is your place to be. If you can’t wait for spooky season, the next tour is Saturday, Sept. 13, where you’ll wander with the ghosts of Gratz Park + learn more about the spirits that supposedly lurk in our town.
Pro tip: Wear comfortable shoes — the tour is about one mile long over uneven sidewalks and brick laid paths.

CD Central officially closed last Monday after 30 years as a cornerstone of Lexington’s music scene. Owner Steve Baron has retired, but the store’s mission will continue — reopening under new local ownership as Cut Corner Records on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels will award $100,000 to the Kentucky Children’s Hospital DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic for pediatric cancer research. Following the presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 9, patients will create a handprint banner in the hospital lobby.

Champions Blue LLC endorsed plans for a new multi-use facility that will include a dedicated Kentucky basketball practice space. The project could also feature UK HealthCare sports medicine areas and research labs, bringing together athletics, healthcare, and academics in the Sports Adjacent District. (UKNOW)

Fayette County Public Schools talked budget on Monday night, with lingering questions about the district’s contingency fund. Some community members called for more transparency — even suggesting a third-party audit. The board will vote on the plan later this month, with the next public meeting set for Monday, Sept. 22. Keep an eye out for Darley — a 24-year-old miniature horse who often hangs out on a leash in the front yard with her owner in the Woodland Park area. She never turns down apples or carrots if you stop to say hello.

The Lexington Public Library is home to the world’s largest ceiling clock, a five-story Foucault Pendulum and frieze. The pendulum depicts the history of the horse in the Bluegrass and was designed by Lexington artist Adalin Wichman.
