Event Spotlight

We’re just a few days away from Seedleaf’s annual Fall Farm Fest.

The autumn celebration kicks off this Sunday at 1 p.m. with a educational tour of honey bees, followed by pumpkin patch activities, a CSA veggie sale, and a tasting of Chef Paula Edarna’s hearty, locally inspired chili.

The festival also features live music and family-friendly seasonal fun, including a farm-inspired photo booth.

Tickets can be purchased online and are $55 per person — kids under 10 are free.

Pro tip: Want to snag the perfect pumpkin? Head to the patch early — before the chili line.

Maybe you have some extra time on your hands, or maybe you’re just in the giving spirit.

All we know is there are more than enough great causes in Lexington to support with your time. Here are 30+ volunteer opportunities around LEX to help you help out.

Natural-born teachers and mentors

Family Care Center | If you love teaching and lifelong learning, consider reading to kids ages 2–4 or tutoring a high school student.

Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning | Help lead hands-on classes or assist with events to create memorable learning experiences for kids across Lexington.

If you want to help out your fellow Lexingtonians

The Hope Center | The Hope Center’s volunteer team helps to rebuild lives on a daily basis — from serving 7,000+ hot meals a month to teaching career skills to its Recovery Clients.

Step by Step | This organization provides support and assistance to young single mothers. As a volunteer, you can help plan events, assist with childcare, coordinate meals, or help with mentorship.
