News Notes

Opening

Lex Deli will soon be celebrating its grand reopening as 51st Deli, according to a social media post. 51st Deli is expanding from Nashville to Lexington serving up deli favorites and original recipes, including sandwiches, tacos, salads, and more.

Kids

If you’re looking for an early event to ring in the new year, Southland Lanes is hosting a New Year’s Youth Party tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. The family friendly event is offering a $95 per lane special, which includes two hours of bowling and shoe rental for up to eight people. Bonus: This deal includes party favors.

Eat

Purple Yum Bakery, a local Asian bakery, is now serving tanghulu, often called the “fruit lollipop” of China. Fruit is served on a stick with a candy shell, giving a crunch like creme brulee. Purple Yum is currently offering strawberry tanghulu.

Drink

After unseasonably warm weather, Lexington has finally had a cold snap. Warm up by visiting a local winery — sip a rich red or enjoy a cozy seasonal mulled wine while taking in the winter scenery. Pro tip: Many wineries have event calendars to explore.

Today Is

LeBron James’ birthday. The legendary NBA player is turning 41 today. James is currently in his record-breaking 23rd season with the NBA, which marks the longest career in the league’s history. Lexington fans can celebrate by hitting the court at any Lexington Parks + Recreation center, with plenty of indoor and outdoor basketball courts across the city.

Seasonal

Don’t let post-holiday cleanup be a stressor. Simplify storage and organization with these two must-haves: an ornament storage box that holds up to 128 pieces and a wrapping paper organizer with pockets for bows + ribbons. Find more seasonal storage solutions.*
Psst — choose between a free Nighttime Nourisher or High Dose Hero with any purchase of Canary’s science-backed supplements until tomorrow, December 31. Think: waking up rested with energy, easing joint pain the natural way, or optimizing urinary tract health.*

Correction

We recently shared news about the YMCA’s Pickleball Kingdom partnership and want to clarify 2026 court access. The North Lexington Family YMCA will not be adding new courts; existing outdoor courts now have lighting, and members can also access additional courts, open play, and leagues at Pickleball Kingdom.
