Kentucky is among the top 20 states to start a business in the US, according to a new report from WalletHub. That’s certainly true for Lexington, where our small business scene is full of gems, including these three we’re loving at the moment:
Head to The Greenery to drink excellent coffee in welcoming surroundings, while surrounded by plants.
sQecial media is full to the brim with trinkets, gift ideas, and thoughtful touches to bring some extra joy into your life.
Get lost wandering through The Domestic, where seemingly endless vintage goods await.
Keeneland is set to unveil interior hospitality spaces within the Paddock Building during this year’s Spring Meet. You can level up your race day experience with new public ticketed venues: 1936 Room, Dogwood Room, Sycamore Room, Ivy Room, or The Rooftop. Editor Alexis’ pick: The 1936 Room for an all-inclusive experience and an up-close view of the jockeys.
Sports
There’s still time left in UK Athletics’ 48 hour Frozen Flash Sale. Don’t miss your chance to grab $4 general admission tickets to gymnastics vs. Oklahoma and women’s basketball vs. Vanderbilt.
Cause
Grounded All Day Cafe is rallying support from local restaurants and community members to help feed people seeking warmth after the winter storm. The effort supports the Catholic Action Center, which is purchasing hotel rooms to meet increased needs. Monetary donations can be dropped off at Grounded All Day Cafe or directly at the Catholic Action Center. (WKYT)
Shop
Girl Next Door Flea is making a stop in Lexington to host a Dollywood Vintage Flea on Sunday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sip cocktails while you shop vintage, handmade goods, decor, and jewelry from curated vendors. Editor Alexis is looking forward to the Italian charm bar.
Environment
The Fayette County Conservation District will begin accepting applications for a $2,000 conservation and education grant on Sunday, Feb. 1. The funds are dedicated for residents who are part of a school network, environmental group, neighborhood association, or are active community members. Project ideas include classroom supplies, field trips, school or community gardens, and more.

According to Gov. Andy Beshear, Kentucky snow plow teams have plowed over 670,000 miles of roads this weekend — that’s enough to circle the Earth nearly 30 times.(WHAS11)
