This Saturday, March 28, we’re celebrating Earth Hour, an international movement to spend 60 minutes (at least) doing something good for our planet.

Here are five free ways to get involved:

1. McConnel Springs Volunteer Morning | 10 a.m.

Lend a hand at this monthly event with rotating outdoor tasks.

2. Visible Mending Workshop | 10 a.m.

Learn to patch old clothes and keep them out of landfills.

3. Junior Naturalist: Salamanders | 10 a.m.

Kindergartners-5th graders are invited to learn about different salamanders at Raven Run (and in Kentucky).

4. Nature Cleanups

Join Live Green Lex at Wolf Run (12-4 p.m.) or Jacobson Lake (5 p.m.) to keep our parks clean.

5. Hot Chocolate Bike Ride | 5:30 p.m.

Bring a thermos and meet at Coldstream Park for a family ride along Legacy Trail.

Earth Hour doesn’t have to end on March 28. Discover ways to live sustainably every day and upcoming local environmental events.
