Federal funding will help build more electric vehicle stations across the state
Waiting for your vehicle to charge is a great way to catch up on LEXtoday. | Photo by LEXtoday
Thanks to nearly $11 million in federal funding from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, the state will see an additional 16 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations constructed around Kentucky.
Lucky for us, the closest one to Lexington will be coming to the Marathon at 3590 Lexington Rd. in Versailles, just before the Bluegrass Parkway.
Under the plan, each fast charging station must:
Have at least four chargers
Be open 24/7
Be able to power any non-proprietary EV model
Last week’s announcement is just the beginning. A total of 37 sites will be built along interstates and parkways in the state.
“With so much EV production happening right here in the commonwealth, we want Kentuckians to be able to reap the benefits,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. “Today, we are taking a major step forward on our mission to have a statewide electric vehicle charging network.”
We want to know, do you drive an electric vehicle? Hit the button below to take our short survey.
