Something brew-tiful is coming to The Burl’s campus in the Distillery District. Say hello to Burl Brew, a new craft brewery that aims to become your new go-to spot for the big game.

“The addition of the brewery will not only bring craft beer to the Burl campus, but also a new place to watch sports. With a fusion of beer and sports, we hope we can get more people interested in what we’re doing at the Burl campus,” said co-owner Jomo Thompson.

Sitting adjacent to the music venue and arcade, Burl Brew will operate as a microbrewery to make its own line of beers, while also featuring a signature cocktail menu.

JR Redmon, head brewer, said he can’t wait to release what they have been working on behind-the-scenes.

“The lineup is a culmination of my skill set that I’ve grown over the years. We have been meticulously brewing this beer and I’m excited to bring something new and refreshing to Lexington,” said Redmon.

Lexington-based company Cowgill Inc. has signed on to build a new mixed-use development in Hamburg.

Coined Hamburg East, the 44-acre tract of land will join the new 41-acre UK Healthcare medical facility at the intersection of I-75/64 and Winchester Road, and construction is set to begin immediately.

Fun fact: This is one of the last corners of the interstate system available for commercial development in Fayette County’s Urban Services area.

Hamburg East is expected to include:
  • Apartments
  • Green spaces
  • Hotels
  • Retail spaces
  • Restaurants
“The addition of UK HealthCare and Hamburg East will prove to be a major benefit to both that part of the Lexington community, as well as for the people of Central and Eastern Kentucky,” said Joe Brumley, vice president for acquisition at Cowgill.
