Lexington is getting Solarized

Solarize Lexington — a program that connects property owners to discounted sustainable energy — announced that the deadline to express interest is Friday, Aug. 9 and contracts must be signed by September 27
“Solarize Lexington has already proven its worth, providing homeowners with a trusted installer, lower prices, and guidance for switching to solar energy,” said Mayor Linda Gorton during a press conference last year.
If you want to learn more, a Solar 101 workshop will take place today at 6 p.m. at Pivot Brewing, where you can inquire about the initiative, learn the step-by-step installation process, and potentially receive a discount. Although Solarize is geared toward homeowners, Program Manager Jada Griggs says places of worship, nonprofits, and small businesses are also encouraged to apply.
According to the city, when the program first launched last year, participants committed to installing ~500 kilowatts of residential solar power — which is equivalent to saving 14,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
