Drink Up Week is finally here and we have a feeling it’ll be the toast of the town.

Here’s the tea — today through Friday, July 26, we’re celebrating the entrepreneurs, mixologists, venues, and beverages that make Lexington go ‘round.

As you know, we’ve created an interactive map of can’t-miss deals offered by local businesses in Lexington. Here are the top deals our LEXtoday editors have their eyes on — and what they plan to pair with these drinks.

City Editor Aayat is going for the key lime pie cocktail for $7 at Charlie Brown’s. She’s dropping in on Wednesday night with her friends for a cozy night on one of the couches — and of course, she’s pairing her drink with a plate of hot pepper cheese.

City Editor Molly can’t wait to sip, shop, and make a candle with a $5 Sparkling Paloma in hand at Wick & Mortar Studio at Poppy & Pomelo.

We hope you enjoy sipping your way through our city this week. Cheers to you and happy Drink Up Week, Lexingtonians.

Makin’ our way downtown...

Be the Broker: What do you want to see go in at North Upper Street?

If you’ve ever walked along the intersection of North Upper and West Short Streets, you’ve probably noticed the ever-changing business at the corner across from the old Fayette County Courthouse. The 200-year-old building has worn many hats over the years, including an office space for lawyers + doctors, and The Lexington Diner. Now, the minds behind Greyline Station and this Wall Street Journal-featured short-term rental are taking over the building to give it new life.

Chad Needham + Chris and Teri Kelly have made it their goal to revamp the 19th century building with some help from a Downtown Lexington Management District grant. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the building will eventually host:
  • Multiple retail storefronts
  • Two condos on the second + third floors
  • Eight office spaces
  • Basement area
While the renovations continue, we want to know, what would you like to see go into this prime downtown corner? Submit your answers below.
