Be the Broker: What do you want to see go in at North Upper Street?

The corner of West Short and North Upper Streets is getting a much-needed renovation.

If you’ve ever walked along the intersection of North Upper and West Short Streets, you’ve probably noticed the ever-changing business at the corner across from the old Fayette County Courthouse. The 200-year-old building has worn many hats over the years, including an office space for lawyers + doctors, and The Lexington Diner. Now, the minds behind Greyline Station and this Wall Street Journal-featured short-term rental are taking over the building to give it new life.

Chad Needham + Chris and Teri Kelly have made it their goal to revamp the 19th century building with some help from a Downtown Lexington Management District grant. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the building will eventually host:

  • Multiple retail storefronts
  • Two condos on the second + third floors
  • Eight office spaces
  • Basement area

While the renovations continue, we want to know, what would you like to see go into this prime downtown corner? Share your thoughts.
