While the summer calls for outdoor concerts, we like to think of fall concerts as its more demure counterpart. So, we’ve put together a list of just some of the artists that will be making a stop in town over the next few months. Very cutesy, if you ask us.
OG Lexingtonians may remember this space as Busters, but a name change hasn’t impacted this venue’s role in our concert scene. Featuring high ceilings and two bars, this space is ideal for any live music lovers.
Bridge Builders | Friday, Aug. 23 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | Lexington Children’s Museum | $65 | This day camp will teach kids in Kindergarten-fifth grade all about architecture through hands-on building activities.

The Evolution of Cajun Music | Saturday, Aug. 24 | 6:30-7:30 p.m. | Lexington Public Library | Free | Learn about the deep history of Cajun music with members of the Grammy Award-winning band Lost Bayou Ramblers + Professor Tom Turino, an expert in ethnomusicology.
Black Tie Experience | Saturday, Aug. 24 | 7 p.m. | Central Bank Center | $70-$100 | Don your most elegant attire for an evening of live performances from R&B artist Case, bourbon + whiskey tastings, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and learning about nonprofits.
Sunday, Aug. 25
Community Book Fair | Sunday, Aug. 25 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Good Foods Co-op | Free, price of purchase | Bring + exchange books and textbooks, then enjoy a lunch at the onsite cafe.
Distillery District Food and History Tour | Sunday, Aug. 25 | 2:30-5:30 p.m. | RELIC Lexington | $89 | Take a stroll through the Distillery District while learning about James E. Pepper, tasting some of LEX’s best bites, and dive into the history of bourbon.
Reminder that Fayette County Public Schools are closed today. This comes as a result of a new staggered scheduling system that helps students ease into the new school year.

Earlier this summer, we reported that Sweetgrass Granola would be opening a storefront. Now, the homemade granola biz has announced that it will open its space at 808 N. Limestone, the former home of Cafe Emporio, this fall. Here, it will produce its granola + sell ingredients used in its product. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Dudley’s on Short is commemorating 43 years of business with a tasty celebration. Starting on Monday, Aug. 26, join the crew for a special throwback $19.81 menu featuring its Coal Miner’s Brunch or a multi-course option including old menu favorites like Thai chicken wontons and crab puffs.

ONE Lexington, our city’s violence reduction program, will host its second “Symposium on Youth & Young Adult Gun Violence” on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Spindletop Hall. The event will feature notable speakers from across the country, workshops that support the community, and highlight the progress already made. Registration is open.

We apologize to the readers holding onto summer. Between football and the Keeneland Fall Meet, there’s no shortage of fun things coming our way in the next few months. So let’s dive in to some fall happenings coming up.
Oktoberfest, Christ the King | Friday, Sept. 20-Saturday, Sept. 21
This annual festival is a staple in the community for a reason. Enjoy two nights of German fare like bratwursts + sauerkraut, live music, Black Jack, a cake wheel, and of course, beer.
