The when + where of election season

It’s election season — here’s all you need to know to share your voice

At LEXtoday, we aim to cover local elections in a way that educates and activates our community with unbiased information to encourage individual voter participation. (i.e. vote for whoever + whatever you want to, just make sure to vote.) To learn more, check out our Editorial Ethics Policy.

With all the ads swirling around, you know what time it is — election season. Today also happens to be National Voter Registration Day. To ensure you have adequate time + all the tools to cast your votes, we present to you our updated voter guide.

First things first

Here are some crucial dates to ensure your voice is heard:
  • Saturday, Sept. 21: The absentee ballot portal opens.
  • Monday, Oct. 7: Deadline to register to vote. Check your eligibility + registration.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 22: Last day to request mail-in absentee ballots.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5: General election — all votes must be received by 6 p.m. to be counted.

🗳️ Find your polling location

Fayette County polling places will be open on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you’re unsure where to go, click here for your polling location.

Can’t make it on election day? Any registered voter who has not requested a mail-in absentee ballot may cast an unexcused in-person absentee ballot. This option will be available Thursday, Oct. 31-Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at any Lexington Public Library branch.

Excused in-person absentee voting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23-Friday, Oct. 25 + Monday, Oct. 28-Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the County Clerk’s office, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by mail or placed in the dropbox outside the County Clerk’s office by 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 to be counted.

Helena’s Cottage: A shining gem in Millersburg’s remarkable transformation

After the passing of her father, Myron Agnew, Victoria Benson found herself called to continue his legacy as Property Director of Community Ventures. Since 2022, Victoria has expanded Mustard Seed Hill’s vision, making this once-quiet town a rejuvenating destination.
