Pony, pony, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? | Photo by VisitLex
We all know that Lexington has a vibrant art scene — and we’re not just talking about Woodland Art Fair or the Lexington Art League. One of our all-time favorite galleries? Lexington itself.
The Horse Capital of the World is home to a number of meaningful murals and street art pieces — let’s paint a picture of our city.
Horse on High Knoll, 115 W. Short St. | By Wylie Caudill
We know blue reigns supreme around here, but artist Caudill presented us with a new hue — a pretty pink pony prominently featured on the side of the High Knoll Wealth building.

What’s on the ground will end up in our water.
Litter washes into storm drains, polluting our streams, eventually harming water quality, and threatening wildlife. Here are three ways you can help keep our community clean:
Collect pet waste | Pet waste doesn’t belong in parks, on sidewalks, or in yards. When it gets to water, it depletes oxygen, encourages algae growth, and releases harmful bacteria. Always carry a bag and dispose of pet waste in a green trash cart.
Pick up litter | The city provides Creek Sweep kits to help you clean up during walks or in your neighborhood. Want to tackle a larger cleanup? Request supplies by emailing LiveGreen@Lexingtonky.gov.
Participate in Water Week | Take part in activities like litter clean-ups, stream restorations, fishing, and storm drain stenciling to celebrate and protect our waterways from March 22–30.
Heads up: If you spot a big pile of litter, call 3-1-1 to report it.
You’ll have to wait a little bit longer before the Jonas Brothers hit the stage at Rupp Arena this November. But fans have until Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m. to enter to win front row tickets, a stay at 21c Museum Hotel + a $200 Tony’s gift card. (LEX18)

🎼 Listen up LEX, it’s music month
Oh yes, there’s plenty going on at Lexington Opera House. | Photo by Lexington Opera House
250Lex is continuing its celebration of all things that have made Lexington so great for the past 250 years. We’re turning the page + looking at April’s theme: Music.
With 70+ musical acts performing in 25 different venues, there’s sure to be sounds to satisfy every music lover. See the full calendar, but here are few of our faves:
Thursday, April 10 — Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lexington Opera House
Thursday, April 17 — Ode to Kentucky Music, Thursday Night Live Fifth Third Pavillion
Thursday, April 24 — Avett Brothers, Rupp Arena
Wednesday, April 30 — Ben Sollee, Al’s Bar
Do you prefer lyrics over melodies? 250Lex is also celebrating the written word this month. Think: author-focused events at literary hubs in our community including, the Lexington Public Library, The Carnegie Center for Learning & Literacy, and The Kentucky Theatre. We bookmarked some of our favorites:
A really good Wi-Fi extender, because you deserve reliable internet access (yes, even in that corner of the house). Bonus: It’s 52% off until midnight thanks to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale.
We asked you at the beginning of the month which of three Kentucky actors (Rosemary Clooney, Ashley Judd, or Jennifer Lawrence) was also an Oscar winner. With the Women’s History Month Film Series drawing to a close tomorrow, there is still time to test your knowledge.
