Renovations are set to begin on Lextran’s Downtown Transit Center starting Monday, April 7. Located at 150 E. Vine St., the work will primarily be focused inside the building, helping to modernize the facilities.
Riders can expect a few changes during the planned eight months of construction:
The passenger loading area will be moved to High Street
No indoor access including bathrooms, waiting areas, or water fountains
No in-person bus pass sales
Customer service functions will be temporarily moved to the Loudon Avenue office
Once complete, employees + guests can expect improvements aimed at increased comfort, safety, and accessibility, including:
A fresh space for customer assistance + ticket purchasing
Renovated public restrooms + waiting areas
Employee breakroom + restrooms with fresh designs
A brand new retail space for convenient snacks, drinks + essentials
In addition, Lextran’s fleet will see upgrades in the form of new onboard display screens, app enhancements, and other vehicle updates.
