National Pet Day is celebrated annually on April 11, serving as an opportunity to treat your furry companion to an extra treat, cuddle, or walk to their favorite park — as if they aren’t spoiled enough already.
Not only will they love it, but there are also proven scientific benefits to spending time with your pet, including decreased blood pressure, less stress, and more social interaction. There are several ways to treat Fido — and yourself — in Lexington:
First and foremost, our dog-friendly businesses guide has dozens of bars, restaurants, parks, and stores where pups are welcomed with open arms. You might even see Ziggy.
Missing out on the fun? Find your new best friend at a Lexington-based animal shelter. There’s so much love to go around.
If you’re feline like a purr-fect encounter is in the cards, we also rounded up some of Lexington’s favorite cats who can be found around the city. Including one that took a liking to City Editor Sam.
But it wouldn’t be Lexington without a horse or two. Hang out with some of our hoofed neighbors at a host of farms and parks around town, not to mention the goats, pigs, monkeys, snakes, and all manner of Ark-welcome creatures.
Where do you get your animal fix in LEX? Let us know.
