Nothing says summer quite like a bucket of popcorn, a frosty soda, and a blockbuster movie. Lexingtonians have flocked to the Kentucky Theatre’s Summer Classics series for nearly 30 years, and this year’s lineup of 16 cinema masterpieces continues the tradition.

Beginning Wednesday, May 21, film fanatics can enjoy a specially selected movie every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., with tickets starting at $6.50. City Editor Sam already has his tickets for Return of the Jedi on July 30.

Publix in the Fountains at Palomar, the grocery chain’s second Lexington location, will open Saturday, June 7 at 7 a.m. The store will feature Pours cafe, where customers can enjoy acai bowls, smoothies, and caffeine power-ups perfect for grocery gurus at work. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Speaking of groceries, Kroger has applied for a zone change for Winchester Road between Executive and Patchen Wilkes Drives in the hopes of opening a new location. (WKYT)

As part of UK’s commitment to go waste free by 2030, food scraps from all 23 campus dining locations are now being collected daily and composted. A new on-campus composting system creates valuable soil while keeping food out of landfills. (FOX56)
