Development
Curious about the status of the $150 million shopping center slated for Frankfort? The development — which will include a BJ’s Wholesale Club and Target — is still under construction, with some stores opening next summer and a completion date set for 2030. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

The Kentucky River Clean Sweep will return for its 25th year on Saturday, Aug. 2 + volunteers are still needed. Starting at 8:30 a.m., you’ll begin at Kelley’s Landing and collect trash in a 12-mile radius — lend a helping hand, and don’t forget a canoe or kayak if you have one.

History
The next time you explore Evans Orchard and Cider Mill, keep an eye out for an entrance to a winding path at the bottom of the sunflower field. The trail once carried the Kentucky Midland Railroad — which was originally chartered as the Paris, Georgetown & Frankfort Railroad back in 1871.
