Before long, we’ll be trading sunny days for the colorful shades of fall and the crisp, cool air I’ve been missing. And with the season comes a familiar favorite — Keeneland’s Fall Meet.

Keeneland announced that Fall Meet tickets, which span from Oct. 3-25, will go on sale tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Like many of you, I will be online bright and early, as I’ve been yearning for the sound of the bugle, a chance to pet working horses, an excuse to dress up, and, on a serious note, a Keeneland Dog.

Pro tip: If you’re not one for crowds, steer clear of the first two Fridays (opening day and College Scholarship Day), and aim for a Wednesday or Thursday instead for a calmer vibe

News Notes

Traffic

Big Blue Move In began yesterday at the University of Kentucky, bringing heavy traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 20. UK Transportation warns of congestion on and around campus, along with temporary traffic pattern changes, one-way routes, and no-parking zones to accommodate the influx of students and families.

Plan Ahead

Runners, take your mark. There’s still time left to register for the annual Triple Crown Trot 5K. Run or walk your way through horse country at Ashford Stud, home of racing legends. Race day is Saturday, Aug. 23, and costs $55 — be sure to register before 8:15 a.m. on race day.

Mansion Monday

Up for a forever staycation? This 5-bedroom, 6-bath luxury estate just hit the market in Nicholasville. In the sought-after Legacy Estates subdivision, this home offers a heated saltwater pool, a wood-burning fireplace, an outdoor patio, and multiple oversized features.

Quoted

“Actually pay attention to the objective statistics on the back of the package. That’s what matters most.” That’s what University of Kentucky Assistant Professor Shuoli Zhao said concerning his research on kids’ breakfast cereal. His findings show many ready-to-eat kids’ cereals are getting less healthy over time. (LEX18)

Pets

Talk about a golden opportunity — auditions are now open for “Air Bud Returns,” the latest installment in the beloved movie series. If you want to sign up your golden retriever, you’ll need to submit a video of their best skills. For the camera-shy dogs, pet-friendly businesses await in Lexington.

Number

60 minutes. That’s how much daylight will be lost in Lexington during the month of August as the sun progressively rises later and sets earlier. We recommend taking advantage of the daylight while you have it by hitting a local pool. (AccuWeather)

Did your screen time report make you gasp? It’s okay, us too. Consider this your sign to get outside. And by “outside” we don’t mean the coffee shop around the corner with free Wi-Fi — we’re talking dirt paths, dense forests, and Kentucky’s endless supply of fresh air.

The Wrap

Everyone, meet Jojo. Freshly adopted from Lexington Humane Society last month, she is a 4-year-old pit bull terrier mix, we think.

Have any of you adopted from LHS, or are you attending their annual Doggie Paddle on Sept. 6? I want to hear from you.

What about Mr. Bean? He will make his debut — he’s napping and can’t be bothered.
