Civic

No more early morning wake-up crows. Lexington city officials have introduced new policies surrounding rooster ownership, including one rooster per household within city neighborhoods and increased fines. The council’s first reading of the new regulation is scheduled for today, with a final vote on Thursday, Sept. 11. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Edu

Berea College, a tuition-free school near Lexington, has been named the nation’s top college by Washington Monthly. The magazine evaluated more than 1,400 schools and ranked Berea first for its value in helping students earn degrees without incurring heavy debt. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Announced

The Lexington Fire Department has officially placed Emergency Care 13 (EC13) into service. The ambulance will be housed at Fire Station 16, also known as “the Cave,” and is the first new addition to the LFD fleet since 2018.

The University of Kentucky and the Kentucky Primary Care Association have teamed up to expand healthcare access, fight workforce shortages, and improve health outcomes statewide. Joining UK’s Advancing Kentucky Together Network, the partnership combines local care experience with UK’s research and innovation to benefit the state. (UKNOW)
