News Notes

Development

Lexington is finalizing plans for a new downtown government building at 200 W. Vine St., potentially renovating or replacing the former BB&T building. Using a public-private partnership and $40 million from a capital reserve fund, construction could start in 2026, with costs and agreements still pending. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Tech

VisitLEX introduces Neigh-I, the world’s first horse-powered travel planner. Instead of AI, a real horse named Oliver chooses a three-day Lexington itinerary by picking carrots, peppermints, and apples labeled with the city’s top attractions.

Shop

Lexington stores are embracing fall early, filling shelves with pumpkins, costumes, and Halloween decor. Shoppers are snapping up candy and seasonal items, while hints of Christmas decorations already make their way to the top shelves. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

Eat

Mileta, known for its handmade pastas and craft cocktails, is now serving lunch Wednesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The new menu features seasonal shareables, fresh salads, chef-driven sandwiches, and pasta favorites like Lumache with Jake’s Country Sausage Ragu.

The Word

Pumpkin spice. You know it, you love it, and according to Google, this seasonal blend is being searched more now than ever before. Whether you’re looking for a classic PSL or something more unique, get your autumnal beverage fix at these Lexington coffee shops.

Number

69,100. That’s the estimated number of farms in Kentucky, according to a new study by Visual Capitalist. Support local growers and eat farm-to-table by shopping at one of Lexington’s farmers markets this weekend.

Eat

ICYMI, this viral “hollow onion” recipe is a guaranteed game-day hit: buttery, flavorful, and super simple to prep. Watch the delicious reel.*

Biz

Why are the same firms that backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay also backing Pacaso (Nasdaq ticker reserved: $PCSO)? Because it’s disrupting the $1.3 trillion vacation home market with co-ownership, already earning $110 million+ in gross profit in under five years. (And until midnight, you can join the 10,000+ shareholders.)‡*

The Wrap

For all my fall-loving homebodies — free activities can be simple, and my favorite is the annual cozy “Gilmore Girls” rewatch. Snuggle under a warm blanket, light a candle, and sip your favorite warm beverage while binge-watching beloved episodes.

Did you see the “Gilmore Girls” reunion appearance at the Emmys this past week for the show’s 25th anniversary? We were all fangirling, and rightfully so.
