Need a reliable way to get around town? Our quick guide to Lexington’s busing system shows how Lextran makes exploring the city simple — no car required.

Bus Routes

Lextran offers 25 main routes with 886 stops across the city. There are four nighttime routes located on Woodhill Drive, Georgetown Road, Versailles Road, and Eastland.

Riders can stay up to date with Lextran’s news for information about other specialty shuttles throughout the year. Lextran is currently serving Keeneland’s Fall meet. Stay tuned for Spring Meet fare announcements.

Pro tip: Route 8 - Versailles Road is the stop for Blue Grass Airport.

Pricing

Trips with Lextran can be purchased as a single ride, day pass, 20-ride pass, 30-day pass, or a student class pass.

Fares start at $1 for an adult and .80 cents for youth (7-18) with discounts available for students, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and Medicare cardholders.

7 Brew is now open in Winchester (1120 Bypass Rd.) and Nicholasville (1025 N. Main St.). Nicholasville’s location will host a “Swag Day” Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pro tip: Purchase a large drink and get a free t-shirt.

The 44th Kentucky Book Festival kicks off Saturday, Nov. 1 at Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Enjoy nightly activities Monday, Oct. 27-Friday, Oct. 31 including trivia, readings from Wendell Berry, a conversation with Silas House, A Way with Words hosts, and a musical-literary tribute to the Everly Brothers.

Cause

The Lexington Humane Society is caring for Raisin, a dog returned in poor condition after a previous adoption. The organization is seeking public donations to support her medical treatment and ongoing recovery. More than $400 has been raised so far; contributions can be made online. (ABC 36)

Arts

Mayor Linda Gorton unveiled “A Common Thread,” a new sculpture by artist Benjamin Ball at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. Commissioned for Lexington’s 250th anniversary, the piece features words from five Kentucky writers and celebrates the city’s shared history, creativity, and sense of community.

Award

Toyota is awarding nearly $2 million in grants to local nonprofits, including Junior Achievement, JAG Kentucky, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. The funding will help support education, workforce training, and community programs for students across the Commonwealth. (ABC 36)
