Cut your own
Nieman’s Christmas Tree Farm, | 5100 Sulphur Ln.
Fill your home with the scent of fresh pine from one of Kentucky’s favorite Christmas tree farms. Cut your own with tools provided or simply select and let the friendly staff do the heavy lifting... literally. Pro tip: They often sell out shortly after Thanksgiving, so call (859) 552-3532 for an appointment.
Pre-cut + ready to get lit
King’s Garden Center | 4560 Nicholasville Rd.
The greenhouse turns into a winter wonderland with freshly cut Christmas tree varieties including Fraser, Grand, and Concolor firs. Wow your guests with other live festive greenery + decor like wreaths, centerpieces, and garland. Don’t forget to bring the kiddos to see the trainset + enjoy hot chocolate and cider.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lexington residents can head to Redwood Cooperative School to drop off cooking and vegetable oil in a disposable, hard-sided container with a lid.
Save your oil in a closed container until the next Gobble Grease Toss
Solidify it in the fridge or freezer and then dispose of it in the trash
Psst... Check out this Gobble Grease Toss video to see what happens with your used cooking oil. Hint: It’s either turned into biofuel or used for research through two local organizations.
The city issued Thanksgiving reminders for Thursday, Nov. 27 + Friday, Nov. 28. On those days, city offices are closed, metered parking is free, and residential yard waste pickup is paused. Pro tip: If your trash is picked up those days, early collection is Wednesday, Nov. 26.
