How to give your used cooking oil a second life this Thanksgiving

But don’t pour used cooking oil or grease down the drain — it can harm pipes, waterways, and the environment.

A better solution? Head to the 2025 Gobble Grease Toss on Friday, Nov. 28.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lexington residents can head to Redwood Cooperative School to drop off cooking and vegetable oil in a disposable, hard-sided container with a lid.

Food scraps and motor oil will not be accepted.

If you can’t make it on the 28th, try these options:

  • Save your oil in a closed container until the next Gobble Grease Toss
  • Solidify it in the fridge or freezer and then dispose of it in the trash
