Talk about a work walk of art

Heads up, Bourbon Trail, you’ve got company. The new UK Art Trail makes its debut tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. with maps at each stop, docents to answer questions, and passport stamps provided. The self-guided walking tour shows off the school’s vast, eye-opening collection of fine art.
What to know
Spanning five featured locations, works on view include those by masters, emerging artists, and up-and-coming MFA students. The first 50 people who collect stamps from three galleries can receive a free original artwork, available to collect at the UK Art Museum while supplies last.
Some stops may be surprising. A hospital? But the UK Chandler Hospital’s art collection has more than 4,000 pieces on walls and in waiting rooms. Meanwhile, the College of Design Gallery is just getting started.

$546 million. That’s the General Fund budget proposed by Mayor Linda Gorton at Tuesday’s meeting. In addition to the primary issue of Lexington’s winter weather storm response — for which Gorton outlined six areas of planned improvement — public safety, housing, and infrastructure were also identified as key investment areas. Film
The city has been abuzz about what movie is filming downtown, closing off at least one street. New York subway props were spotted on the 21C. At press time, current camps are divided between Hallmark’s “Win, Place, Love” and (our guess)a Ken Jeong movie. Know more? Tell us. (WKYT)
Real Estate
The French Quarter Square on Richmond Road just changed hands for $8.5 million. Some cosmetic upgrades are planned. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Ranked
Lexington is the only city in Kentucky to make Livability’s annual list of the “Top 100 Best Places to Live” in the US. At number 71, the survey cited our natural beauty, thriving downtown, and relatively low cost of living and housing affordability. (Fox 56)
Feel Good
New Vocations, the country’s oldest + largest organization that adopts retired racehorses into new homes and careers for retirement, is expanding. The org helps 600 horses a year and estimates at least 50 more will benefit from the new barn and office space. (WTVQ)

For my part, I have a good one from just last summer. Ed Begley, Jr. was in town for the Harry Dean Stanton Fest on what happened to be my birthday. He turned out to be an absolute delight and joined my friends and I for some birthday cake outside the Green Lantern. He told us all about “Portlandia,” Fred Armisen’s chops as a drummer, and anything else we asked him about.
