Top local farm shops in the Lexington area

Stock up on fresh, local flavors at Lexington’s top farm shops. Family farms and markets offer seasonal picks and homemade treats.

Lexington locals have been around the farmers market block a time or two — but what about the smaller, family-run shops in Lexington and ones worth hitting the road? We rounded up some of the best farm shops and markets around the Bluegrass — perfect for stocking up on local goods, meeting the makers, and grabbing something fresh for your table.

Farm shops

  1. Pope Family Farms | 964 Peacock Rd., Paris | Find farm-fresh meats, milk, eggs, and seasonal produce here — plus rotating weekend goodies like baked treats and soups. Pro tip: they’re already taking Thanksgiving turkey pre-orders.
  2. Triple J Farm | 1524 McClelland Circle, Georgetown | This four-generation family farm + store is open year round with seasonal produce, high quality beef and local meats, baked goods, and daily soups. Pro tip: call to place a pre-order for Thanksgiving rolls + pies.
  3. Hatmaker Homestead | 555 Tarr Rd., Paris | Catch them at the Paris-Bourbon County Farmers Market (9 a.m.–1 p.m.) or swing by the farm later (2–5 p.m.) for pastured poultry, produce, eggs, and homemade goods like jams, jellies, and pickles.
  4. Holleran Farms Pumpkin Stand | 3660 Winchester Rd., Lexington | With pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors, the farm has something for every carving or decorating need. Fun fact: Holleran Farms supplied pumpkins for The Kentucky Castle’s fall decor.
  5. Sweet Maple Farms | 7636 Bagdad Road, Bagdad | Choose a monthly meat CSA (community supported agriculture) and get locally-raised meats like pasture-raised pork, chicken, lamb, and beef delivered. Visit the farm shop in-person for syrups, jams, mums, pumpkins, and more.

Farm-fresh town markets

These shops aren’t located on a farm, but they’re definitely worth a mention — some of my favorite spots to shop for farm-fresh products in the area.

  • Golden Apple Fruit Market | 800 E. Main St., Lexington | Golden Apple is a year-round Lexington favorite, with seasonal produce, flowers, and local jarred goods like honey, jams, and jellies — plus apple butter, salsa, eggs, and more.
  • Dodd’s Corner Farmer’s Market | 309 N 3rd St., Nicholasville | Dodd’s Corner is a local market with fresh produce, an in-house deli, bakery, and rotating hot lunch options. Right now, you’ll find apples, pumpkins, and Western Kentucky garden tomatoes. Pro tip: ask for a sample of local fall honey.
