Lexington Parks & Recreation and the Leadership Lexington class of 2024 are teaming up to create an opportunity for Lexingtonians to be even more involved in our city’s park system.

Now, organizations can give back, add value, and enhance our green spaces through the volunteer-based Adopt-A-Park program. The Leadership Lexington group adopted the first location, Gainesway Park. Through their efforts, they have completed a park clean-up and will install signage that allows communication through pictures + symbols for early learners and those who with speech challenges.

Expectations of those interested in adopting a park include:

  • Ability to organize a community-based group + encourage park users or neighbors to get involved
  • Serve as a community stakeholder for the park
  • Coordinate + spearhead activities for volunteers to help improve, maintain, and create programming at the park
  • Keep close communications with Lexington Parks & Recreation

Bonus: Adopters will be formally recognized in the community for their commitment. Groups interested in adopting a park can fill out an application.
