Potholes are a fact of life on Lexington streets. Some catch drivers off guard, others are nearly impossible to miss — and they all have the potential to ruin a smooth ride.

Here’s a guide to reporting potholes in Lexington, whether in your neighborhood or while out and about.

The City of Lexington’s Streets & Roads division is responsible for maintenance and repairing potholes only on city-maintained roads. This excludes state, private and/or roads under development, according to the city’s guidelines.

Not sure what type of road is affected? Check out the city’s street information map.

Report a city-maintained pothole

Hit a pothole and spill your coffee pulling out of Kenwick Table? Say no more. You’re on a city-maintained road and can file a report by calling LexCall at 311 or filling out an online service request form. The operating hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Report a state-maintained pothole

Trying to navigate Nicholasville Road? This state-maintained road can’t afford any extra obstacles. You can file a report by calling the County Maintenance Garage at (859) 246-2059 or the Department of Highways, District Seven at (859) 246-2355. You can also fill out an online form with the Team Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
