Wood you beleaf it? In an effort to expand Lexington’s tree canopy , the city announced a new initiative called Lex Grow Trees .
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council has allotted $1.5 million
for the program, which will be put toward:
- Planting new trees
- Making sure existing trees are taken care of
- Hosting educational sessions that share the importance of trees for our economy, environment, health, and society
Applications are being accepted now for the first round of funding — $500,000 with a single maximum award of $100,000. Nonprofits, neighborhood associations, and businesses are encouraged to apply by April 26.
Lex Grow Trees will host two learning sessions
to share tree-planting tips + best practices for grant application.

- Virtual | Thursday, March 28, 6:30–7:30 p.m.
