Across 26 years, Reforest the Bluegrass has brought together 18,000+ volunteers to plant trees near streams and creeks, improving vital “riparian buffers” that filter pollutants and protect water quality.

Curious about the initiative’s impact? Over 215,000 seedlings have been planted, restoring 200+ acres of floodplains.

Expanding our tree canopy improves air quality, reduces urban heat, and supports healthier wildlife. Lexingtonians are invited to help make a difference at this year’s event on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jacobson Park.

Can’t make it? Snag free saplings during Reforest at Home on Saturday, April 26, starting at 10 a.m. at three locations:

  • Charles Young Park | 540 E. Third St.
  • Jacobson Park (shelter six) | 4001 Athens Boonesboro Rd.
  • Shillito Park (aquatic center) | 300 W. Reynolds Road

Pro tip: As 69% of Fayette County is privately owned, homeowners play a crucial role in expanding Lexington’s tree canopy.
