If being one of the best places to visit is one of Lexington’s New Years resolutions, then we’re off to a great start. Lexington will start 2025 by ringing in the new year with a spot on Bloomberg’s list of “25 Best Places in the World to Visit in 2025.”

According to Bloomberg, locations on the list are a mixture of:

  • Famous destinations with new attractions — think London + New York
  • “Enticing” locales that are “hiding in plain sight” like the Colombian Amazon
  • Cities and countries with burgeoning tourism industries + infrastructure upgrades, like Greenland’s recently renovated Nuuk airport

The article highlighted Lexington’s tradition + innovation, and pointed specifically to the Town Branch Commons, our horse-filled heritage, and various neighborhoods including the Distillery District.

Tradition and history

Lexington has a rich history full of athletic achievement, culinary arts, and of course, bourbon. You can experience these yourself through:

Innovation

As the city continues to grow, it continues to think about the resident experience. Whether that means adding 22 miles of walking trails throughout the city or contributing to a “flourishing music scene” that Bloomberg believes is beginning to rival Nashville, Lexington is the place to be.

The rest of the best

Along with Lexington, Bloomberg threw a spotlight on 24 other cities and countries, including:

  • Algeria
  • Japan
  • Egypt
  • Antigua + Barbuda
