Kentucky may be landlocked, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know what it means to make a splash in the community.
Thanks to the support of 90,000 miles of surface rivers and waterways across the state, our access to water is abundant. Now, it’s time to pay it forward.
The City of Lexington, along with local community and civic organizations, will host the fourth annual Water Week Saturday, March 18- Saturday, March 25. Programming will focus on one core value: protect the water that fuels so much of our everyday.
Girls Who | Monday, Mar. 6 | 5 p.m. | Central Library, 140 E. Main St., Lexington | Celebrate Women’s History Month with programming for girls and gender minority youth, with guests discussing their experience working in engineering and for the FBI.

The former South Upper Street Mellow Mushroom is getting a new look from Frank & Dino’s owner Carlo Vaccarezza. The new spot, Damiano, will callback to the cuisine of its former host in the form of pizza and a full bar, but will also feature sushi. Talk about groovy. 🍣 (Lexington Herald-Leader)

$2.65 billion. That’s how much Lexington automotive service company Valvoline sold its Global Products business to Aramco for – in cash. The sale to the Saudi Arabian gas company will allow the company to “focus on individual future growth,” according to Valvoline CEO Sam Mitchell.

Last week, it was announced that comedian Kevin James would be making a stop by the Lexington Opera House this fall. Apparently, Lexingtonians wanted more, so a second show has been added to take place on Thursday, Sept. 28th at 9:30 p.m.Tickets are on sale now.

Ain’t no boulder high enough

Northeastern Park just got a little more rock n’ roll.
Last week, Lexington unveiled the city’s first outdoor climbing boulders on Eastern Avenue, just off of East Main Street.
Lexington Parks and Recreation jumped at the opportunity to zhuzh up the downtown park after feedback from the neighborhood found that more climbing structures were desired. The project was funded by the $10 million allotted for parks upgrades from the American Rescue Plan Act.
Design firm Recreation Insights and ID Sculpture were the brains behind the glass fiber reinforced concrete boulders inspired by natural rocks seen at Red River Gorge.
